Spandana Stree Sanghatan of St. Thomas Church Ammembal organized an insightful awareness talk on mobile and cyber crime, attended by children, parents, and enthusiastic parishioners. The session aimed to educate the community about the dangers of digital misuse and promote safer online habits.
The talk was delivered by guest of honor Mr. Royal Steeven D'Souza, who explained how mobile apps can collect and misuse personal data. He highlighted real-life cases where individuals were blackmailed using private photos, videos, and audio clips. In addition to raising awareness about such threats, he also shared practical suggestions on how to protect personal data, such as enabling two-factor authentication, avoiding suspicious links, using strong passwords, and limiting app permissions.
The session proved to be highly informative and thought-provoking. Parish Priest Fr. Michael D'Silva appreciated Spandana Stree Sanghatan for organizing such a meaningful program and emphasized the need for more such initiatives to keep the community safe in today’s digital world.
Overall, the event successfully informed and empowered parishioners to be more cautious and responsible while using technology.
