On July 3, 2025, the Catholic Sabha Ammembal Unit and Spandana Stree Sanghatan Ammembal Unit jointly organized a Neji Neduva (paddy planting) program in the paddy field of Mrs. Celine Sequeira at Chelur. The event began with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome by Mr. Albert D’Souza, President of the Catholic Sabha Ammembal Unit.
The program was inaugurated by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Michael D'Silva, who appreciated the initiative, stating that in today’s time, when paddy cultivation is on the decline, such efforts to promote and support farming through community participation are truly commendable.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Robert D’Souza, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, who attended as the chief guest. After the formal inauguration, members of both organizations joined together in the field to plant paddy saplings, promoting teamwork and traditional agricultural values.
To add joy to the occasion, various fun-filled games were conducted in the muddy fields, and prizes were distributed to the winners, creating an atmosphere of festivity and unity.
Mrs. Jacintha D'Cunha, President of Spandana Stree Sanghatan, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters. The event was compered by Mr. Felix D’Souza, Treasurer of the Catholic Sabha.
The program successfully highlighted the importance of preserving agricultural traditions while strengthening community bonds through active participation.
