The Catholic Sabha Ammembal Unit successfully organized the ‘Jala Bandhan’ borewell recharge initiative on September 30, 2024. This program aimed to enhance groundwater levels in Sajipa Padu village by recharging the government borewell at Mithapadpu using purified rainwater collected from the rooftops of local houses.
The event was inaugurated by Parish Priest Fr. Michael D'Silva, who emphasized the importance of water conservation and community involvement in sustainable practices. Vice President Mr. Robert D'Souza and Secretary Mrs. Laveena Rodrigues were also present, supporting the initiative.
During the program, purified water was funneled into the borewell, collected from the rooftops of two participating households, owned by Mr. Daranappa and Mrs. Shakila. Both homeowners were recognized and felicitated by the Catholic Sabha for their contributions to this vital environmental effort.
The ‘Jala Bandhan’ initiative serves as a significant step toward addressing groundwater depletion and promoting sustainable water management within the community. Participants expressed their appreciation for the program and its positive impact on the environment, marking it as a model for future conservation efforts.
